There are some other things you could do, but they would all void the warranty. Your best bet is to send it back in to Microsoft.
Are you sure what you saw was the Red Ring of Death? 3 flashing red lights – no more and no less.

For the red ring of death the warranty is three years. Don’t try any of those self-repair videos; send it for replacement.

Switching everything off, disconnecting all the cables, reconnecting them, and switching everything back on.
Switching everything off, taking out all the accessories such as the hard drive and any memory units, and then starting the machine up with none of them connected.
And then, if these two radical suggestions fail (and they’re both an extension of switch it off and on) contact technical support. Huzzah!

Hey ive been where you’ve been constantly sending in my 360 and waiting for a couple of weeks only to have it get the rings again. So i did some research and i found this helpful e book. I used it and now my 360 doesn’t have any problems. Don’t wait around until your new one breaks down at least check out http://Marzzie89.gamerbots.hop.clickbank.net it will tell you all about it. Its cheap and should have you up and running before you know it.

Your best bet is to send it back to Microsoft if it is still under the 3 year extended warranty. If not you can fix it yourself. I would advise against the towel trick as it will fry your system.
You can try to find some videos on YouTube. Many of them are only snippets, though. One of the better guides that I have found online is the Xbox 360 Pro Repair Edition (well organized and clear, step by step instructions). I think there is another way but you will need to take the system apart which voids any warranty. If you have a warranty you should just send it in. You can look up xbox 360 rrod fixes on youtube if you want to fix it yourself. But beware of the towel fixes or any other kind of fixes that trap heat to your system.

You can fix it yourself. You will need a few household tools and a red ring of death repair guide.
I found one that will works. I’ll leave a link below for you to check out.
